First Two Games

Our first two games have seen some hard luck.  The first game against the Thunder Lizards was tough.  While we played very close with them the whole game, they had a couple of breaks past our defensive line and got easy shots.  The second half, we played much tougher and kept them out of the goal.  This was a good sign.

Also a good sign, both Garrett and A.J. played very well.  I am increasingly impressed with their natural abilities.  They are coming along nicely.  Garrett did so well that he earned the Captain's band.

The second game, against the Rovers, was a great game.  Although they were up by three goals at half time, we came back in the second half with two relatively quick goals.  In the second half, we really stepped up our defense, marking closely numbers 9 and 10 (I'll get to them later).  We really shut them down, and Austin made some really marvelous saves to keep us close.

But in the end, it came down to one player on the Rovers who was just an amazing natural player.  He was very difficult to stop, was very, VERY fast with the ball, and was able to shoot from almost any position around the box.  Austin really earned his keep as keeper today, and he earned the Captain's band for next week.

Although we have yet to earn a point in the standings, I'm very pleased with our general progress.  I just hope that the team doesn't get too discouraged from the challenges we've faced.
