What a fantastic and amazing game we played today against the Gators International. We played a very tough and tenacious team, and we kept with them the whole way. On every level, we played at our very best.
I am so proud of how our team responded to the challenge of a fast and skilled team. We kept control of the ball in the middle third, had lots of scoring chances, and always followed up on our shots. We had three strong goals, each showing our own tenacity and skill. Our passing was crisp and on target, and all of our players began to think beyond their feet. We had several great headers, some to control the ball, some to defend, and some to shoot and score. And our defense withstood some remarkable challenges from the other side. They are a very fast team, faster than us. But we were able to stymie their attack by pushing it outside, disrupting their dribbling and making some awesome tackles.
But it is the perseverance that I was most pleased with at today's match. The team was always aggressive, always challenging the other team to make the play, and always sticking with the play and not giving up. Rafael took a great sliding kick to get the ball away from the goalie for our first score. Michael's goal was a followup shot from his own rebound, and Charlie's header for a goal was off a rebound from Khoi's direct kick. Those are the opportunities that are the mark of good play all around. This was an amazing team effort.
You should be so proud of your boys today. Coach Andy and I certainly are. This was clearly their best game yet. See you next week.
